Chapter 1 summary
After reading Module 1 my knowledge regarding various web browsers increased, I learned about the function of cookies, and this was my first time learning about HTML coding. I started out using Internet Explorer and then started using Microsoft Edge as my web browser. I now am going to try out Mozilla Firefox and try out Google Chrome. Like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox can be downloaded for free. In Google Chrome, the address bar can be used to perform calculations like multiplication and addition which can be very useful.
It is convenient when typing a URL into a web browser that it automatically puts the http://www. for you. I was not sure what a homepage was, and how you can customize it, until I read about it. I just recently started using bookmarks to save certain web pages. This feature is also very convenient and saves the user time from needing to type the URL in every time. It also prevents the user from forgetting certain web pages.
Additionally, from this module I learned my first HTML code like using <b> and </b> tags as instructions to display an entire line of text in bold. I also learned about cookies, but this module did not discuss about how they got their name or who coined the terminology. Cookies are essentially data. I assume possibly they were named after sugary treats since data can also be desirable. For years I would accidentally go into private Browsing mode on my I phone, but I never really knew what it was for.
Web browsing is a customizable experience and cookies can help ensure certain preferences. I prefer a simple and efficient web browsing experience. I am very curious to test out some of the new browsers introduced to me in this chapter. I also hope to learn more about HTML coding.
